Last night I attended the 2015 Chelsea Flower Show Charity Gala.
It’s a fabulous spectacle.
Taking place the evening before the show opens to the public, it’s where captains of industry, celebrities and their other halves rub shoulders, strike deals and gossip among the stunning flower displays and gardens - so God only knows why they let me in!
In addition to all the beautiful blooms and meticulously planned and planted gardens, the show is also great for people watching. I spotted lots of great outfits and jewellery and had nice feedback on some of my own designs I was wearing.
I only wish it had been warmer. The majority of the hob-nobbing takes place outdoors and it was positively Arctic. After a day of heavy, grey rain it was a relief when the sun came out, but coupled with strong winds it made for a very chilly event indeed. (The hair standing on end on my arms in the pictures is a clue to the weather conditions!)
Next year I’ll know to wear thermals. Or wrap myself in a picnic rug from one of the show's retailers.
