Today I left the swaying wheat fields behind for the relative bustle of Ystad, a small town a short drive from where I currently am in southern Sweden.
Fans of the Wallander TV-series will know it well, though I am sad to report I didn't spot the (fictional) man himself chasing any suspects through the cobbled streets...
Instead of following in the footsteps of the opera-loving detective, however, I visited a small exhibition at Ystads Konstmuseum, the local art museum. It focussed on slow art, exhibits whose being is the result of endless hours of fiddly work and patience.
Naturally, I honed in on the jewellery, and I came across the work of some really talented makers, pictured below.
Also on show was also the sculpture Beauty has a thorn by Mafune Gonjo: a dress entirely made out of pieces of glass. It was absolutely stunning!
In fact, catching sight of it gave rise to the same kind of want the 5-year-old me had the first time I saw Cinderella's ball gown in the film. Both beautiful dresses, and both sadly unattainable...
Oh well, a girl can dream.
