I’m in love!
They say Cupid’s arrow strikes when you’re not looking. Hand on heart I can honestly say that I didn’t go to the European premiere of Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them in London’s Leicester Square last night expecting to fall in love. I’m a married woman after all!
Sure, so there was glitz and glamour at the screening of JK Rowling’s new Harry Potter spin-off. Not a red carpet, for it was blue, but plenty of Hollywood A-listers in amazing outfits, paps and autograph hunters. So far, so opening night circus.
All of that fell away when the film started and I clapped eyes on the Niffler.
I defy anyone not to be bowled over by this adorable creature, whose main characteristics appear to be a love of anything glittery and an urge to get its paws on it.
Looking something like a cross between a mole and a platypus the Niffler moved through the film at breakneck speed, going crazy for diamond necklaces and other sparkly jewels. So while I don’t condone stealing I instantly warmed to this little creature with bullion on the brain.
This was the first Fantastic Beasts offering in a suite that is rumoured to have another four instalments in the pipeline. I for one hope the Niffler gets top billing in the next one.
P.S. I apologise for the blurred, of-the-moment nature of the top image but as a no-maj sadly I don't have a wand to magic it perfect.
